ABOUT
Jay is a London-based writer–director and cinematographer, originally from the Midlands, whose work is rooted in lived experience and shaped by his working-class background. His visual approach is strongly informed by his foundation in photography, both a passion and a field of study, which continues to guide his visual storytelling.His films have screened at festivals qualifying for OSCAR, BAFTA, and BIFA awards. Most recently, his short film SLEEP was selected for the London Short Film Festival in the Lo-Budget Mayhem category and won Best Screenplay in the National Student Category at the 48th Drama International Short Film Festival. It later screened at the world-renowned Thessaloniki International Film Festival.Jay holds both an MA and BA in Film and is currently in post-production on his new short, The Flat Below, a story that examines societal neglect of the working class.
